Progressive Gender-Equal Wedding

I know it’s a mouthful of a title, but this wedding was every bit as impressive as the title suggests. I love working with couples who I connect with, and Chloé and Sébastien were right up my street.

Their wedding was held in the beautiful village of Giverny in France, which in itself is a place worthy of visit. Giverny attracted impressionist artists from all over the world, most notably Monet, who made Giverny his home and inspiration for his paintings. Just around the corner, away from the rows of art galleries, was La Dîme de Giverny, a hidden gem that provided the beautiful backdrop to this wedding.

The venue wasn’t even the best thing about this wedding, Chloé and Sébastien believe in equality in all its form, which really showed in every aspect of the wedding. Instead of following the bridesmaids/groomsmen tradition, which didn’t make sense given their friendship circle, Chloé opted to have a best man and Sébastien, a best woman. They also decided the bride shouldn’t have all the fun, and so the bride and groom each had their own bouquet. The theme continued to the traditional throwing of the bouquet, their friends made them a cauliflower and a broccoli bouquet, so all the boys and gals got to have a go at the fun. They hired the wonderful Les Cuistots Migrateurs, who employs refugees with amazing family recipes from different places, to cater – and I can certainly attest to the lushness of the food. Their reception was filled with much music, fun, and laughter – the best combo for a wedding.

I came away from this (part 1 of 2) wedding with my belly happy and heart full.
